Artist Statement

Texas Heartbeat Act reflects on the 2021 Texas Abortion Law. The woman is shown on the bottom and the man on the top to represent the idea that men have more power in politics. The woman is shown wearing a bonnet as a reference to the show Handmaids Tale. Gold wire is shown over the woman's mouth to represent the silencing of women's voices. The man is shown with an open mouth to express the idea that men are very vocal over the subject of abortion.
